Elders
In the
New Testament, the elders have the overall responsibility of directing the
church. They are to seek the mind of Christ (who is the head of the
church), in all matters through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the
Word of God. They must be able to teach and encourage the church and refute
those who contradict the truth. Elders are to lead by example and will
provide instruction for the maintenance of healthy relationships within the
church. For further study on the New Testament role of elders please see
Hebrews 13:7, 17, 1 Thessalonians 5:12, I Peter 5:2-3, Titus 1:5-9, , and 1
Timothy 3:1-7.
The
Elders at New Hope are chosen by the Holy Spirit and affirmed
by the church body.
